Polk DUI Saturation Patrols
Polk County DUI Unit will be out in force for the holidays. According to a press release, "Polk County Sheriff's Traffic deputies will be conducting DUI saturation patrols countywide in order to detect, stop, and arrest impaired drivers, as part of the national "Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest." campaign. Members of the DUI Enforcement Unit will also be patrolling the roadways of Polk County in order to safeguard motorists from those who are driving impaired."

DUI Polk County Deputy Admits - Cut - Copy and Paste - 54 Cases Tossed
Polk DUI Attorney website and Lakeland Ledger reports 54 Polk DUI cases were thrown out. The reason - what has been suspected for years, since computers have been used to write DUI arrest reports:1. Cops use a template to write report(s);
2. Cops take a previous DUI report(s) and change the name, leaving details the same;
3. Cops use the same language when talking about the field sobriety exercises.
The Polk County Sheriff Deputy had made "made about 124 arrests for DUI since he began working last year" According to published reports.

Polk County DUI Attorney on DUI Drug Court
Polk County DUI Attorney reports on the DUI Drug court division established by Judge Ronald A. Herring. The Judge ordered that any multiple DUI offender may have the option of DUI Court as part of a plea offer. If the offer and the case is accepted into the division, the Polk County DUI defendant's case may be transferred to the Judge presiding over DUI or Drug Court . The DUI/Drug Court shall be a condition of the offender's probation. Also involved in the DUI Court are: Judges, Assistant State Attorneys, Defense Attorneys, County Probation, Polk County Sheriff's Office, Lakeland Police Department Offices, AA representatives and MADD representatives.Source.

Polk County Democrat: "New Program Offers Less Jail Time To Repeat DUI Drivers. Those arrested and sentenced for multiple counts of drunken driving will have an option that could lessen jail time.
Polk County commissioners approved the hiring of a counselor, probation officer and case manager for a new program that will offer treatment to drunken drivers. Paid for by a $90,700 grant from Florida Dept. of Transportation and user fees, the program, which is similar to drug court, will allow sentenced drivers to voluntarily join the program, and lessen their jail time.
The program is intended for repeat violators, and while commissioners were hopeful, Commission Chm. Jack Myers said the most important part of the program would be user support."
